A view of the southwestern edge of Tel Sheva.  In the center of the image, the modern wood construction outlines the area where Yohanan Aharoni excavated an altar from the Hellenistic Period (332-63 BC).  The stones in the center of the enclosure are original pieces of the altar.

This sacred area is slightly to the south of the area where the "Basement Building" was discovered—the place where Aharoni believed the Judahite sanctuary, with altar, was located.  If so, then the "sacred area" had moved only slightly south during this later period.
