Adana

Adana

Adana is a large Turkish city located on the Seyhan River some 32 miles inland from the Mediterranean Sea.  It has a population of about 1,800,000 and is an industrial and agriculture center.

Archaeologically, it dates back to 6,000 BC and is first mentioned in Hittite historical texts from ca. 2,000 BC.  It has been inhabited continuously since then.  In 1 Kings 10:28 and 2 chronicles 1:16 it is called Kue—a place associated with Solomon's horse trading.

There are not many surface remains to attract visitors.  The new Archaeology Museum houses artifacts from the area.
