Cana of Galilee

Cana of Galilee

Cana of Galilee  is located 8 mi. [13 km.] north of Nazareth and is the place where Jesus performed his first and second miracles — turning water into wine at a wedding (John 2:1–11) and healing the son of a Roman official who lived in Capernaum (4:43–54).  Cana was also the home of Nathanael (John 21:2).

The “traditional” Cana of Galilee is conveniently (for tour busses) located on the road that leads from Nazareth to Tiberias.  However it is more probable that this is the actual Cana of Galilee mentioned in the gospel of John.

This site of Khirbet Qana is located at grid 178247 while the “traditional” site of Kefr Kana is at 182239.
