Lechaion Road

Lechaion Road

View looking north at the paving of the road that led to the port of Lechaion that was located to the north of Corinth on the Gulf of Corinth.  The road itself is about 40 ft. [12 m.] wide and was flanked by shops on both sides.

The road is visible from lower left to the middle right of the image.  The paving stones and curbing are clearly visible.

On the left (south) side of the road there were shops and some believe that one of the synagogues of Corinth (not yet discovered) was located in this area.

The Peirene Fountain is located off the lower right side of the image.

This picture was taken from where the "Captives Façade" was located.
