Grand Harbor Bays

Grand Harbor Bays

View of three of the prominent bays ("creeks") that are part of the Grand Harbor of Valletta.

On the left (north) side of the image the Dahla tal–Kalkara bay is visible.  To the right of Fort Saint Angelo is the bay where the modern small boat harbor is (in the center of the image behind the large freighter) and to the right of that is the bay that is used for repairing large vessels and oil rigs.

The water just beyond the canon, spreading horizontally across the image, with the large freighter, is the main portion of the Grand Harbor.

It is probable that the Alexandrian ship that Paul departed on after his three–month stay on the island set sail from one of these bays.

Acts 28:11 After three months we put out to sea in a ship that had wintered in the island. It was an Alexandrian ship with the figurehead of the twin gods Castor and Pollux.
