Agora Temple 2

Agora Temple 2

View looking west at the outline of the foundations of a Temple that was located in the center of the western half of the Agora.  The structure was surrounded by 22 columns and measures 75 ft. x 50 ft.  It was constructed around A.D. 15 and was built in honor of Divine Caesar and Divine Roma or to Emperor Augustus.  Thus, it was dedicated to emperor worship.  It certainly was functioning during the days of the development of the Early Church.

In the distance, all of the arches are arches that supported the podium upon which the Domitian Temple stood.
