Altar and Chancel

View looking down at the altar area from the top of the synthronon. The altar is the rectangular block of stone in the center and it is surrounded by four columns that originally supported a canopy.

Every 6 December, the feast day of St. Nicholas, Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant Christians celebrate the Divine Liturgy here.
