Palace/Temple (1)

View looking at the southwestern corner of the acropolis palace/temple. The function of this large building is disputed – it may have originally been a palace and later turned into a temple. The building is built of large uncut local limestone. Its walls are about 6.5 ft. [2 m.] thick.

This building is of typical Early Bronze Age "broad house" design. This is called a "broad house" design because the door is located on the long wall of the building – it is about 82 ft. [25 m.] long. For an example of an Early Bronze Age "broad house" from Arad Click Here.
