Wadi Suweinit

Wadi Suweinit

View looking east down the Wadi Suweinit.  Notice the rugged limestone cliffs to the north (left) and south of the wadi.  The modern Palestinian city of Mukmas is located off to the left (north) side of the photo.

In the story of Jonathan and his armor-bearer, it is recounted "On each side of the pass that Jonathan intended to cross to reach the Philistine outpost was a cliff; one was called Bozez, and the other Seneh.  One cliff stood to the north toward Michmash, the other to the south toward Geba" (1 Samuel 14:4-5).

It is probable that the cliff on the north is "Bozez" and that on the south (right) is "Seneh."  This is an area that they probably avoided due to the steepness of the cliffs—but they probably looked for a more gradual slope down into and up from the Wadi bed.
