View looking east at the exterior of the Crusader building that replaced its Byzantine predecessor.  The structure was taken over by Saladin (ca. 1187) and has remained in Muslim hands since.

To the left of the octagonal structure the bell tower of the Russian Church of the Ascension is visible.
