View from just east of Stephen's (Lions') Gate looking east southeast. The church and garden are located at the eastern foot of the Mt. of Olives.

In the center of the image, the multi-domed Church of All Nations (Catholic) is visible. Click here for a view of the interior of the Church.  Just to the left of the church is the traditional site of the Garden of Gethsemane. Click here for a view of olive trees in the garden.

The Church and the trees are located in the Kidron Valley, which flows from left to right (north to south).  Also visible in the image are the Church of Mary Magdalene and Dominus Flevit.

After the "Last Supper" Jesus retired to this garden to pray with his disciples (Matt 26:30-56; Mark 14:26-52; Luke 22:39-53; John 18:1-12). It was here that the disciples slept while Jesus prayed and where ultimately he was captured and led away to be tried.
