Stove

Stove

A view of a stove that is located in the "kitchen" west of the central courtyard of the Western Palace.  The stove was made out of stones that were covered with plaster.  The fuel and fire were under the plaster and pots were placed on the openings where they were heated.

This may date to the Herodian Period, but given its good state of preservation I have the feeling that it was used by the Sicarii (Zealots)—maybe even the monks in the fifth century AD.
